February 167, 2011- Yes, Shacunda is still with us! She is much loved by her foster family. She came into care, with several puppies, as an adult. She had to hunt to survive. She cannot be loose around cats, as she has an insatiable drive to catch them.
We have built Shacunda a huge exercise run so she can run hard and play with the large dogs on the property, but everything small is safe!
Shacunda is now getting older. She was about four when she came, and she has been in care since 2006! So she is a senior, and her muzzle is starting to grey.
We consider Shacunda a permanent foster, since you would have to be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound for her foster mom to consider allowing you to take her queen!
If you can leap tall buildings, you may fill out our Paws and Claws' Online Dog Adoption Application!
You will have far better luck adopting all the other rescues on our adoption page.

March 6, 2007 - Shacunda remains on her throne out here....
Other gals have moved in but are not able
to sit in her throne!
She is
a very intelligent girl and would be amazing with professional
training.
She is eager to please and
always ready!
She loves kids and does well
with all of my male dogs. Shacunda
gives us all a great deal of security
out here
and would be well
suited to "protecting her home".
Shacunda
unfortunately does not do well with cats or other small
dogs/animals
however she does show some
progress when she is
cued. Shacunda
is a very loyal and loving girl with a great deal of
potential!
Shacunda weighs approximately 65 - 75 lbs.
This pet is up to date with routine shots.

Shacunda's babies have all been ADOPTED!!
"Shacunda"is a beautiful guardian angel! She was named by the young
lady who asked us to help her find homes for her dog as well as her nine
new babies, who have since all been ADOPTED!!.
Shacunda is a large girl with a heart of gold. She is very busy with
her NINE new babies!! Shacunda looks forward to her early morning runs
with her foster mom...in fact every morning I look out my window and she
is already staring at me!!
Shacunda has been possibly mistreated by a male figure in her life and
seems to prefer women. She is NOT aggressive towards men however she
does have a deeper bark when she greets them. When children and women
greet her she actually smiles!!!! Shacunda appears to be very intelligent
and eager to please. She does well on a leash and already follows the
word "Heel".
Shacunda has a great deal of love in her that she was given by the
young lady that asked for us to find her a new home...Shacunda and I will
not forget her!!
Shacunda's nine little butterballs are just beginning to venture around
a bit the last couple of days. We are looking forward to finding names
as we see more personality!
Paws and Claws volunteers drove into a yard to find a family moving. The girl who lived there was
concerned about her dog, who had just had nine puppies. She wanted to make sure the puppies
and their mother were healthy and went to good homes. One of the volunteers personally promised
to give momma-dog and her babies a good home until she found them all received wonderful
forever homes. The three volunteers who visited the reserve were so impressed by the maturity and
responsibility of this young woman. She had the best interests of the dogs at heart, and wanted them
to come into care. Her friend also tried to find a young dog she thought needed to come into the
Paws and Claws system, but despite extensive searching could not locate it. We will try again to find
this dog on our next trip out. The girls also helped us catch another frightened, skittish stray dog.
It took hours to catch her, but they persevered and were ultimately successful. Thanks to their efforts,
this dog will not end up feral, having litter after litter of unwanted puppies. We are naming two of the
female puppies after these two lovely girls. Thanks so much girls- you are truly dog angels!
