Paws and Claws Animal Rescue consists of a small group of volunteers who foster out of our homes. Our mandate is to rescue off the Sunchild and O'Chiese First Nations Communities. We realize, however, that there are many dogs in our own communities looking for homes. We partner with other rescue organizations, as well as local animal control, to help find homes for the dogs and cats in their care as well. We created this page to feature such animals. Most people want puppies, but quite often the best dogs are older dogs (through no fault of their own) end up in pounds or S.P.C.A.'s across Canada. An estimated 10 million pets are abandoned in North America each year and more than 4 million of those are euthanized simply because they do not have homes. Please consider giving one of these wonderful dogs a second chance in life and please spay and neuter!
Saving just one dog won't change the world...

Meet Angie
Angie was dropped off on our yard one night in December of last year. She was pregnant after she weaned her pups we spayed her. She is 2 yrs old and absolute sweet . She would be a great family pet.
She loves people and is great with children.

Ringo
She was left by the renters. We soon discovered that Ringo was expecting she delivered all her babies in our kennel. She was a great Mom she is spayed now and ready for a new home. She needs a cat free home but get along with most dogs and enjoys playing with them. She is around 2 yrs old . On the picture she enjoying JJ. collet and off leas she stays right with me . She is good around children.

Zoey
Zoey(top picture) is a 3 yrs old spayed female. She is best buddies wiyh her friend Baileys (.Bottom picture)There owner moved and were not able to keep there dogs.
They are both good with children. Zoey has a health problem , she needs pills to be able to digest her food. Her pills will be provided the rest of her life , with the help of her pills she is a healthy and happy girl.
Bailey
She is the brave one out of the two. she 4 yrs old , spayed and just a very happy girl.

 If you are looking for an easy dog , than Hibby is the one . She is sweet LOVES to please or just follow you around. She is GREAT company . Loves car rides or just lay in the sun .
She is 2 yrs old and is a fantastic dog. Pure bred Border Collie.Off leash she will stay on your site , Is very good with all the animals would do well in every family.She is limping on her rear right leg due to an old injury , no medical treatment needed.

Lost Dog
We reported our lost dog to you July 7th – Pixie went missing in the town of Rimbey while we were visiting there and we reported her to all the agencies at that time that we were able to locate but have now returned to our home in Campbell River.
I just now found that you have a website etc. so I have attached some pictures and other information as we still have not found Pixie. She was spotted numerous times running on the outskirts of Rimbey and nearby acreages but was very frightened and ran from everyone. The last sighting that was reported to us was on June 20th.
She is a spayed female terrier cross – light brown or tan with white face, chest and feet. Wire haired coat that was clipped short at the time she went missing but does grow out fuzzy, long tail with a white tip, no collar. Weight 9 lbs, height at shoulder 12”. Ear tattoo # VN49S. She was temporarily registered on Petlynx and now has a permanent listing under tag #AB37352.

After a vet exam we found out she was expecting , a few days later she gave birth two 7 babies.
